Lot clearing is often the first step toward any building project. You may not even need to use a lot of clearing services before the project begins. It may only be necessary to clear the lot of debris before beginning work. So before construction actually begins, the land must be prepared, and this means paying for it to be cleared and graded beforehand.
So what happens in all this? In this article, I'll walk you through everything you should know before you ever hire land clearing specialists. First, you'll need to locate the legal owner of the property. This person will probably be a neighbor or a friend who has ownership rights over the land. You'll also need to gain access to the private road, as well as finding an easement for public roads, so you don't get stuck with extra construction costs on top of the cost of clearing the property. Additionally, you may need to obtain a variance so that nearby buildings and roads aren't restricted while construction is going on. In most cases, a neighbor or friend will be able to help, but if you have no luck with these people, then it's time to start looking for a professional. A lot of tree removal companies perform all types of lot clearing projects, including new construction. New construction entails clearing the area right before the building begins. As always, safety is priority number one, and in many cases, a contractor will be responsible for making sure the job is done safely and properly. If there is any question about how the job was done, you can always ask the contractor for documentation of his or her work. Once the legal boundary has been reached, and the easement or variance is acquired, you can start the process of clearing the area. Many landowners and business owners will hire a landscape contractor to do the job, but sometimes, it's easier to clear everything by yourself. However, there are some situations where the contractors are not as effective as you would like, and in those cases, you will need to do a lot clearing yourself. The good news is that there are a few simple steps that you can follow in order to successfully clear your land with ease. The first step that you should take involves removal of any existing structures on your property. Typically, this includes trees and shrubs, but it doesn't necessarily have to. Landscape companies may be able to help with this as well, especially if they specialize in lot clearing. However, if you're tackling a larger project like this, it may be easier to do it yourself. Another step that is necessary for lot clearing is proper site preparation. Prior to clearing the area, you should have a plan in place of exactly how you want everything disposed of. If there are trees and shrubs at the site, you should cut them down so they don't block the path of trucks or machinery. You should also have a way to dispose of the materials. Many land owners will hire landscape contractors to handle this aspect of site preparation, but if you have some experience with construction or demolition, you may feel more comfortable doing it yourself. After the site has been prepared, it's time to start the tedious task of removing all of the trees and shrubs. This can be done manually or by using some kind of mechanical equipment. If you choose the manual route, it will take a little longer, but will be less expensive. The only downside to manual lot clearing is that it does require a substantial amount of labor. Land owners who opt for mechanical equipment have reported saving an incredible amount of time, money, and effort by using it. When it comes to trees and shrubs, lot clearing services vary depending on the size of the lot, the density of the area, and the severity of the growth. Trees that grow rapidly can sometimes cause structural damage to houses and commercial buildings. They can also be dangerous, particularly if they're blocking driveways or sidewalks. For this reason, a lot of attention needs to be paid to tree removal, especially when it's part of an environmentally-friendly project.

Thanks for the reminder that proper site preparation will also be necessary when getting lot clearing services. I'm interested in looking for a good lot clearing service soon because I want to look for a good way to make it easier to prepare my property for the construction of a new barn. I'd like to have that done before the summer so that I could make use of it when the next crop cycle comes.
